How lucky are my parents? Both their children getting married in the same year, and eighteen weeks apart! I’m really looking forward to celebrating my brother and his future wife’s wedding. I’d already gone through two wardrobe changes before Christmas too with regard to what I’d wear to their wedding. You might remember me fawning over Lindy Bop’s Cindy in Sage in December. Well, I ordered it in late December/early January, making it a third outfit change before my brother’s wedding was remotely close. I didn’t pay proper attention to the sizing and measurements though so when it arrived and I couldn’t do it up (I ordered the same size as the Audrey dress I have but Cindy and Audrey are not the same!), I had to send it back and get the next size up.
Lesson of the day: read the measurements of each dress carefully, and make sure you triple check your own measurements! Continue reading

What To Wear Wednesday #7
It might be the end of summer in just four days with daylight savings ending (hurry up already October so I can have more sunshine!), but when I saw this dress come up on a Facebook buy/swap/sell group that I am a part of I simply could not pass it up. I only tried it on last week in store but because of the fact that I don’t like to buy clothes new (unless I absolutely cannot get it any other way), I didn’t part with the cash.
Styling outfits is a little hard to do with thrifted clothes and accessories though, so I have to show you new items, but perhaps you just use them purely for inspiration, like I do. Continue reading
What to Wear Wednesday #6
Better late than never, right? This week’s What to Wear Wednesday styled outfit is late out of the gates due to extenuating circumstances but I couldn’t not deliver. My sincere apologies for the tardiness.
At TAFE, Wednesday is all about learning how to manage your business finances so of course my head is in a spin trying to absorb all that is taught to us. It also made me think about what I’d wear to an all-important finance meeting. I thought I’d go for strong yet feminine: dark blues with hints of pastel pink and pastel blue. Continue reading
What To Wear Wednesday #5
Next Tuesday is St Patrick’s Day, and this week’s What To Wear Wednesday is brought to you by the beautiful greens of the holiday celebrated by the emerald isle. St Patrick’s Day celebrates the introduction of Christianity to Ireland. I’m not sure how many people are actually aware of that though! Even though I’ve Irish blood in me (my mother’s side), I’ve never celebrated St Patrick’s Day but I do try to wear a few green things on the day. I’d love to dress head to toe this year, and boy do I wish I had these gorgeous pieces in my wardrobe.
I built this outfit around the skirt. Its yellows and greens lend itself to being able to use different shades of green all over. I have to admit I was saddened that I couldn’t find any four leaf clover items to style. Maybe next year?
Do you celebrate St Patrick’s Day in any way?
What to Wear Wednesday #4
Summer is officially over here in the southern hemisphere now that it’s March so that means it’s time to start thinking about layering your wardrobe and dressing a little warmer. This week, I wanted to spend my imaginary pennies at British online shop Dorothy Perkins. With the change of seasons here for the cooler, it means that all the wintry beauties from the northern hemisphere are on clearance. And, an added bonus about Dorothy Perkins is that you can buy a whole outfit for a fairly decent sum of your hard-earned cash. Continue reading
What to Wear Wednesday #3: Poolside Glamour
Ahhh summer, where are you my friend? I yearned for you all year, and you but teased me with a few days of heat. Not a visit to the beach has been made this season, and I’m not sure I can wait again until you arrive in the last months of 2015. Continue reading
What to Wear Wednesday #2: Sweet Valentine
A day of love, a day of pain, or nothing at all? I never used to be a fan of Valentine’s Day. Not because I was single – for eight years I was in a relationship/engaged/married (hold onto your hats there folks!) – but because I didn’t like the fuss and caper surrounding the day. Truth be told, I still don’t like the fuss and caper, it’s kind of like the Wedding Industry Complex, but I do appreciate it more now that I’m in a happier place. Continue reading
What I Wore: Tatyana Alika Circle Dress
Twelve months ago, Melbourne was experiencing a summer that we Australians are known for: blistering hot days and no respite in the evening. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed these hot days and nights, though there was definitely some variances. On 2 February 2014, while official temperatures recorded at the Latrobe Street observation station (now closed) reached 39 degrees (Celsius; 102.2F), in Croydon, Victoria – 45 minutes out of the CBD where the BOM observation station was at the time – temperatures seared to 44 – 45 C (111.2 – 113F). Needless to say, I was really questioning my choice of dress for The Mister’s brother’s wedding. Continue reading
School Day Fashions
Here in Victoria, today is the first day of school for the year. Lots of kids will be starting kinder/pre-school, lots will be starting primary school or high school, for some it will be their final year of either primary or high school. Of course, let’s not forget those starting the next grade, or even at a new school. I’ve been the new kid at a new school before – my final year of VCE. That was a daunting experience walking into the year 12 common room; a room exclusively for final year high school students and their lockers, which was greater than the whole student body at my old school. It’ll be a little while until I experience the first school day of the year as a parent, but I do remember walking into my classroom for the very first time as an almost 6 year old in 1990. What to Wear Wednesday #1: A Cool Summer’s Eve
A little late out of the gates today sorry folks, but I’m still not 100%. I ended up visiting the doctor yesterday and then spent much of yesterday resting. I’m feeling much better today but will be pleased to be back to full health! Continue reading
