About

Brooke Orchard Photography 1

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been different – nerdy, geeky, not really caring too much for current trends, marching to the beat of my own drum. However for a wee while there I did fall in with the rest of the common world and follow trends, but every now and again, something would catch my eye and capture my heart and mind and have me question why I was trying to fit in when I was born to stand out. I’ve always had a penchant for older films and music thanks to my parents’ tastes and how they raised my brother and I. At times I thought it was daggy, but now I see it as an education.

It wasn’t until a few years ago however that I realised just how much I did appreciate culture from the days gone by, particularly the 1950s. I started following blogs like Va Voom Vintage and Vintage Current, and started to introduce subtle changes in my wardrobe and overall appearance. As time continued, and inspired by our late 1950s apartment (it’s a rental), I am now transforming our home, inside and out. It’s a slow process, but we’re getting there. Finding pieces in good used condition, and some that need a little TLC, is helping to transform our lives.

Pssst – how fabulous is my photo there!? Big love to Mistress Chrissy and Miss Sammy from The Lindy Charm School for hair and make up, and to Brooke Orchard Photography for the vintage styling and image. Shot on location at Vintage Garage, Collingwood. This was the first time I really and truly got all dolled up for a shoot, and I am TOTALLY hooked and want to do more. I’d love to do one in our home actually once we’ve spruced it up a little.

Follow me, learn with me, love with me, as I document my journey through time. It might not always be perfect, but I guarantee it will be an honest and true account, mistakes, successes, everything!
