How lucky are my parents? Both their children getting married in the same year, and eighteen weeks apart! I’m really looking forward to celebrating my brother and his future wife’s wedding. I’d already gone through two wardrobe changes before Christmas too with regard to what I’d wear to their wedding. You might remember me fawning over Lindy Bop’s Cindy in Sage in December. Well, I ordered it in late December/early January, making it a third outfit change before my brother’s wedding was remotely close. I didn’t pay proper attention to the sizing and measurements though so when it arrived and I couldn’t do it up (I ordered the same size as the Audrey dress I have but Cindy and Audrey are not the same!), I had to send it back and get the next size up.
Lesson of the day: read the measurements of each dress carefully, and make sure you triple check your own measurements!
I’m on a mission between now and next Saturday – I need to find the perfect shawl, wrap or bolero to wear to my brother’s wedding. I’ve got the dress, the bag, and the shoes, just not anything suitable to cover my shoulders. The dress is the only new part of my outfit, everything else is thrifted or will be thrifted. With only 10 days until the wedding, I’m hoping that the Melbourne or Geelong op shop gods will shine upon me and deliver me the perfect solution. For now, here’s a few accessories similar to what I have, what I want, and where to get them.
Unfortunately the Cindy dress from Lindy Bop is no longer available in the Sage colour pictured, but I am in love with the four other colours on offer. If my mum is able to find it, I’ll be proudly toting my late grandmother’s 1940s black beaded bag, a bag I will proudly add to my collection. If mum cannot find it, then I do have a back up vintage black suede-like clutch to use.
Photos of me in my ensemble will definitely come after the wedding.
PS – the Hell Bunny Cannes dress I styled last week has arrived!
