What to Wear Wednesday #2: Sweet Valentine

A day of love, a day of pain, or nothing at all? I never used to be a fan of Valentine’s Day. Not because I was single – for eight years I was in a relationship/engaged/married (hold onto your hats there folks!) –  but because I didn’t like the fuss and caper surrounding the day. Truth be told, I still don’t like the fuss and caper, it’s kind of like the Wedding Industry Complex, but I do appreciate it more now that I’m in a happier place.

The Mister and I do use the opportunity to love it up on V-Day, but we keep it pretty low key. Last year, I made his gift for less than $5. He spent a little bit more on me, and I feel bad that I don’t actually recall what it was that he got me – quite unlike me to forget –  but I know that it was purchased with heart and feeling. We usually stay in and watch a film, or if the weather is nice enough we’ll head out and go for a stroll along the foreshore.

Sweet Valentine

1. Red Wiggle Dress, Unique Vintage
2. Black Cardigan, ModCloth
3. Garnet Floral Bracelet, Unique Vintage
4. Betty Black Peep Toe Platform, b.a.i.t footwear
5. Red Velvet Hair Rose, Faster Pussycat
6. Red Heart Earrings, Unique Vintage
7. Black Coffin Purse, Pinup Girl Clothing
8. OPI Bastille My Heart Polish, Hairhouse Warehouse

Perhaps not as sweet as it is sultry, this little wiggle dress from Unique Vintage grabbed my attention straight away, which is precisely what you want it to do: grab your partner’s attention!

Not my intention to find accessories like those modelled, when I saw the Betty Black Peep Toe Platform from b.a.i.t I couldn’t look away. I have a love/hate relationship with peep toe shoes, but these beauties get my love, absolutely. I think I’d even deal with any pain they cause my back by wearing them. Did I mention they come in coral, yellow and red as well? Put me down for one of each!
I did go a bit matchy-matchy with the gorgeous PUG bag, but I don’t think you can ever have too many black patent accessories. Once upon a time, in a time far away from now, I would purchase a new bag for every pair of shoes I purchased, and vice versa. These days, I’m not so matchy-matchy, but I do like elements of them to compliment each other.
