Settling in to my new skin

Well, it’s not really my skin so much as the blog’s, but finally I have found a theme that I’m comfortable with. Although I’m only new to blogging, I hadn’t found a WordPress theme I was totally comfortable with. Despite being a vintage blogger I wanted something sleek and easy to navigate, something that was elegant and displayed images eloquently.

WordPress designers and developers are always working away to bring their users amazing blog templates, so I make it a priority to keep an eye out for fresh designs that might appeal to me. Yesterday morning I had an incredible urge to see if there were any new themes that might take my fancy and as luck would have it, there were two new themes: Boardwalk and Sela. Boardwalk looks really snappy, and perfect for photographers of all skill levels, but for me, Sela was the one. It is streamlined and elegant, and has plenty of features needed to set one blog apart from another without paying for upgrades (that might come later on, who knows what the future holds).

For the next week or so, I ask that you be patient with me as I move things around and find the best combinations and layout for Alexie RicRac. I’m excited to see the finished product, and I hope you are too!

It’s looking pretty snappy already! I loved the look of Sela as soon as I saw it pop up and I’m debating whether to switch over, too. Sketch works reasonably well for me, but there are bits about Sela that I like, particularly the front page option. You’ve done such great stuff with the look of your blog with this theme.

      Thanks for that feedback Katie.
I’m so impressed with Sela, you’re right, it’s incredibly snappy. Still ironing out a few kinks here and there but overall I’m very impressed. Sketch was something I contemplated too prior to Sela, but because I don’t have awesome photos (yet) I didn’t want to drag Sketch down. I’ll keep my eye out for your switch 😉
